Label To Look For: New Granada by Matt Hodge

This label has recently been brought to my eyes because of personal favorites Sunbears! and Sleepy Vikings are signed to the label, Sleepy Vikings being signed within this month. They seem to have everything under control, and they did good with getting mostly indie bands to sign to the label, and the label has done a fantastic job of signing bands with potential and talent. Sleepy Vikings, who Sam and Adam saw and met at Athfest(Athens, Georgia’s showcase of local and far away indie/alternative bands), who seem to be very chill people. They are shoegaze and indie, and they’re amazingly trippy, fronted with a woman and a male guitarist co-fronting them. Sunbears, on the other hand, is polite, straight to the awesomeness indie/alternative rock. They’re lyrics are generally catchy, quirky, and funny to listen to and read. They’re very talented. The Pauses are an indie band that is also fronted by the female race, and they are good for catchy guitar riffs and jazzy style lyrics that stick in with a horns section. King Of Spain is an ambient, dreamy pop band from Florida(just a heads up, the majority, possibly all, of these bands will be from Florida. Just letting you know.)that has lyrics that are up with Of Montreal, just not as amazingly creepy. The next band is hard to describe, so I’m gonna say straight up alternative. MRENC is the general alternative band but has vocals that make them stand out. The guy’s voice is raspy and it sounds great. I’m too lazy to finish the rest of this, but please, check out EVERY SINGLE BAND ON THE NEW GRANADA ROSTER. DO IT. I BEG YOU.
